Getting Started with the eCheck Service {#echeck-gs}

The eCheck payment service enables merchants to accept electronic check payments using a variety of methods, including mail, telephone, and online orders.  
The eCheck service is available to eligible Visa Acceptance Solutions merchants that meet one of these two requirements:

* U.S. citizens or residents who are at least 18 years of age and have been issued a Social Security number.
* United States or foreign-based corporations that use the eCheck services only for customers using US bank accounts and that hold and maintain a bank account in the United States with a US-based financial institution.
